&lt;p&gt;Kristen has been a supporter of The Shanti Uganda Society since its creation. She recently made the move from eastern Canada to Vancouver in order to play an integral role in the organization and was elected to the Board of Directors in October 2008.&lt;br /&gt;
Kristen is passionate about peace, global justice, human rights and the power of grass roots organizing. Kristen studied Educational Studies at Bishop&#8217;s University in Quebec and International Development Studies at York University in Ontario. She brings with her, experience teaching and working with schools, non-profit and international organizations across Canada and globally. When she&#8217;s not working with the Vancouver School Board or writing proposals and organizing for The Shanti Uganda Society she can be found on her yoga mat or enjoying, a new adventure or night of music with friends.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Wendy Weymann &#8211; Treasurer&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src='http://static1.shopify.com/s/files/1/0004/9741/files/wendy.jpg?1236389115' alt='' align='left'width='195'/&gt;Wendy is a registered yoga and meditation teacher, processes all of the purchases made on the Shanti Uganda website and is a mom to two beautiful and lively yoga-loving children.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;She has a background in administration, accounting and financial management, which she uses to support her role on the board of directors.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Wendy is a long-time supporter of The Shanti Uganda Society and has made regular donations from proceeds from her guided meditation CD.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;When she&amp;#8217;s not teaching meditation workshops, organizing Shanti Uganda&amp;#8217;s finances and fundraising products, or supporting addiction related causes, she can be found in her garden, enjoying a good book and wake-boarding with her family and friends!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Erin Sawyer &amp;#8211; Secretary&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src='http://static3.shopify.com/s/files/1/0004/9741/files/erin_photo.jpg?1241564136' alt='' align='left'width='250'/&gt;Erin Sawyer feels that improving the lives of women and children is one of the best ways to address and improve inequalities and is one way to make a profound difference in the world.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;An economist who has worked primarily in the agriculture and forestry sectors, she has a Bachelor&amp;#8217;s Degree in Global Resource Systems and a Master&amp;#8217;s of Science in Agricultural Economics. She has recently deviated from her career path and has been working with the &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;UBC&lt;/span&gt; Faculty of Land and Food Systems on ways to improve interactions between their students and the greater community.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Erin lives in Vancouver with her husband and two cats. In her spare time she volunteers with the Kitsilano Community Centre Saturday Morning Shower Program, plays squash, soccer and softball, enjoys spending time with family and can often be found curled up on the couch with a book.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Jennifer Kapty&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

She is dedicated to the mission of renewing natural child birth practices and providing loving, supportive care to labouring women.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;She has had the amazing experience of birthing three of her own children, the last being a planned home birth.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Jen brings her knowledge of birthing support, complications during labour and medical nursing to support the work of The Shanti Uganda Society and coordinates local and international events and fairs to support the women&amp;#8217;s income generating group. She believes very strongly that every child deserves a safe and loving entry into this world.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Aim&#233;e Sturley&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src='http://static.shopify.com/s/files/1/0004/9741/files/b_w-me_small.jpg?1255718424' alt=''align='left' /&gt;Aim&#233;e Sturley is the founder of Adar Birth Services, which provides families with a variety of educational and hands-on supports during the childbearing years. She is also a co-founder of the Vancouver Doula Collective. Aim&#233;e was elected to the board of Shanti Uganda in July of 2009 and her experience with birth made her a natural fit for the Midwifery Program Chair. She has volunteered with Big Sisters, Or Shalom, &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;WISH&lt;/span&gt;, and South Community Birth Program and raises money annually for various charities.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Aim&#233;e brings ten years of business experience to her position as well as a hearty helping of creative networking skills, experience in cross-cultural communications and a lively curiosity. Her dedication to the long-term vision of Shanti Uganda is rooted in her desire to improve the safety, dignity and care of birthing women everywhere.&lt;/p&gt;

Equipped with a BA in English Literature and Sociology, Lindsay ventured into the rice paddy fields of Kyushu , Japan , where she spent three years teaching English, volunteering for Thai orphanages, and learning the powerful and subtle art of taiko drums. She returned to her hometown of Vancouver to pursue a Post-Baccalaureate diploma in Sustainable Community Development. Lindsay&#8217;s passion for creating cross-cultural partnerships, promoting sustainability from the bottom-up, and working in diverse settings drives her work and desire to join the Board of Shanti Uganda Society as a grant researcher/writer. Lindsay believes strongly that children, particularly girls, deserve access to education in an environment free of conflict. When she&#8217;s not writing or reading, Lindsay can be found dancing to live music, kayaking, or enjoying vegetarian feasts with friends.&lt;/p&gt;</body-html>
