All Shanti Uganda programs are initiated with the support of local leaders, community elders, elected Shanti Uganda beneficiaries and program staff. We believe that projects should be initiated from the ground up and involve the community every step of the way through community meetings, required community volunteer time and culturally appropriate community investments.
Through our commitment to supporting and empowering women and reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Uganda, the entire community benefits. Currently, our projects fall under the following 3 categories:
- Conscious Birth - Midwifery education, The Shanti Uganda Birth House
- Sustainable Community Development - The Shanti Uganda Women's Income Generating Group, our solar, rain-water harvesting and community garden program
- Holistic Health - Teen Girls Workshops, Safe Drinking Water Initiative
